Teatro at SJZ Summer Fest 2015

SJZ 2015

The 26th annual San José Jazz Summer Fest takes over the urban core of downtown San José from August 7-9, with a stellar lineup of international stars, emerging artists and regional favorites. Attendees will enjoy 100+ performances on 13 indoor and outdoor stages playing jazz, salsa, blues, R&B, New Orleans and more.

We hope you'll join us at the festival, and be sure to stop by our booth near the Salsa Stage on Saturday an Sunday. If you'd like to volunteer in the booth in exchange for a free day pass to Summer Fest, please email us today.

This year’s roster includes Oakland’s iconic funk band Tower of Power; female supergroup Terri Lyne Carrington's Mosaic Project, with Oleta Adams, Ledisi, Tia Fuller, and a powerhouse of female artists joining them on stage; Latin jazz legend Eddie Palmieri; contemporary jazz star Brian Culbertson; famed neo-soul group The Internet; Kamasi Washington, recently made famous for his work on Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly; straight-ahead master John Pizzarelli, among many others.

Want to dance? Exciting trombonist Doug Beavers presents Titanes del Trombón the Friday of the fest for an indoor, late-night salsa dance party. Legendary DJ and producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad from a Tribe Called Quest also takes us into the wee hours. And learn ballroom, swing, and lindy all weekend long with dance lessons on the Adobe Swing Stage. Browse through these acts, and dozens more artists; full line-up is available now at summerfest.sanjosejazz.org.

New this year is an activation of South First Street area; this vibrant corner of downtown comes alive every first Friday night with music and art, and new Friday night fest programming will add to the current community building in this area. We've also pinpointed an indoor place for salseros to easily twist and turn on Friday night, we've expanded our footprint with a mix of new indoor and outdoor stages popping up throughout the grounds, and we’ve upgraded yet another indoor stage to give you the chance to hear top festival artists in intimate club settings.

In recent years the Fest has also achieved renown for one of the biggest lineups of Latin jazz in the nation. It’s the perfect summer experience with great weather; tasty food, wine and microbrews; and activities for the whole family.
