A fantastical celebration about art’s capacity to transcend mortality!
A mythologized telling of the life (and almost death) of alebrije creator, Pedro Linares. Join La Muerte as she chases Pedro, and his three totemitos in this family-friendly Day of the Dead celebration of fantastical Mexican folk art.
Follow Pedro on a nostalgic visit to Mexico City in 1936, discover his special relationship to his animals, and join him in his journey through a psychedelic Oaxacan jungle (or is it the afterlife?).
Balancing the weight of mortality with delightful comedy, beautiful colors, and traditional music, Alebrijes is a joyful story that celebrates the fantastical journey of life and the art that unites us all, even across realms.
Alebrijes is presented in Spanish with supertitles in English and Spanish.

ACCESSIBILITY
Alebrijes is performed in Spanish with open captions in English and Spanish.
ADA seating is available at the theater, in the main level of the audience chamber and on the balcony. There are elevators to the balcony on the right side of the theater lobby. There are no steps leading into the theater from the Plaza, which is accessible via ramps from the parking lots on both King Rd. and Alum Rock Ave.

Una narración mitologizada de la vida (y casi la muerte) de Pedro Linares, creador de los alebrijes. Acompaña a La Muerte mientras persigue a Pedro y sus tres totemitos en esta celebración familiar del arte popular mexicano fantástico.
Sigue a Pedro en una nostálgica visita a Ciudad de México en 1936, descubre su relación especial con sus animales y acompáñalo en su viaje por una jungla psicodélica de Oaxaca (¿o será el más allá?).
Equilibrando el peso de la mortalidad con una comedia encantadora, colores hermosos y música tradicional, Alebrijes es una historia alegre que celebra el fantástico viaje de la vida, la magia del amor que trasciende los reinos y el arte que nos une a todos, incluso a través de los reinos.

Alebrijes se presenta en español con supertítulos en inglés y español.
Asientos que cumplen con el acceso ADA están disponibles en el teatro, en el primer nivel del auditorio y en el balcón. Hay ascensores al balcón en la parte derecha del vestíbulo del teatro.
