Design Your Own Alebrije for Teatro Visión’s Alebrijes!

Join our free 4-part workshop series, express your identity through the art of papier-mâché, and see your creation on stage this October.

As we’re gearing up for our annual Día de los Muertos production, Alebrijes by Georgina Escobar, we’re inviting our comunidad to showcase their creativity through art, which will be featured on stage throughout the run of the show.

This September, we’re hosting 4 free workshops where you’ll explore the rich history, cultural significance, and magic of alebrijes. Led by local artist, Leyla Carleo, you’ll discover which totemitos characteristics reflect your unique identity and sculpt your own custom alebrije. Best of all, the alebrije you create will be a part of the actual set for our Día de los Muertos production.

Because each session builds on the last to prepare your artwork for the stage, we ask that participants fully commit to attending all 4 workshops. Space is limited to 25 participants (ages 16+), so reserve your spot early! Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
